Google Analytics 4 Integration Guide

Learn how to leverage our built-in GA4 integration to create powerful audience segments and improve your marketing effectiveness.

Simplified Integration: Our platform now features a built-in GA4 connection that handles most of the technical setup for you. Just connect your GA4 account and start creating audiences from your survey responses.

Step-by-Step Connection Guide

Step 1: Connect Your GA4 Account

  1. Navigate to the Analytics page in your dashboard
  2. Click the Connect Google Analytics button
  3. Sign in with your Google account that has access to your GA4 property
  4. Grant the necessary permissions when prompted
  5. You'll be redirected back to the Analytics dashboard with a confirmation message

Note: You must have Admin access to the GA4 property you want to connect.

Step 2: Set Up Custom Dimensions

  1. After connecting your GA4 account, you'll see a Check GA4 Dimensions Setup button
  2. Click this button to open the dimensions setup tool
  3. The tool will automatically check if the required custom dimensions exist in your GA4 property
  4. For any missing dimensions, click the Create Missing Dimensions button
  5. The system will create all necessary dimensions in your GA4 property

Tip: This step only needs to be done once per GA4 property.

Step 3: Create Audiences from Survey Questions

  1. In the Analytics dashboard, scroll down to the Question-by-Question Insights section
  2. For each question with predefined answers (single choice, multiple choice, rating), you'll see a Create Custom Audience button
  3. Click this button to open the audience creation modal
  4. Select the answer options you want to include in your audience
  5. Name your audience and click Create Audience
  6. The audience will be created in your GA4 property automatically

Important: Only questions with GA4 integration enabled and predefined answer choices can be used for audience creation. You can enable GA4 integration for a question in the survey editor.

Using Your Audiences

Once you've created audiences in GA4 based on your survey responses, you can use them in various ways:

Google Ads Targeting

Use your survey-based audiences for targeted advertising campaigns in Google Ads to reach users who expressed specific preferences or interests.

Audience Exclusions

Exclude certain audiences from campaigns to avoid showing ads to users who expressed negative sentiment or lack of interest.

Analytics Insights

Analyze how different audience segments behave on your website to gain deeper insights into user behavior patterns.

Personalization

Use audience segments to personalize website content and user experiences based on expressed preferences.

Troubleshooting

Common Issues

Connection fails
Ensure you have Admin access to the GA4 property. Check that you've enabled the Google Analytics API in your Google Cloud Console.
Dimensions setup fails
Verify you have Edit permissions for the GA4 property. There's also a limit of 50 custom dimensions per property in GA4 - check if you've reached this limit.
Audience creation fails
Ensure the custom dimensions were created successfully. There's a limit of 100 audiences per GA4 property - check if you've reached this limit.
No "Create Audience" button
Make sure the question has GA4 integration enabled in the survey editor. Only questions with predefined answer choices (single choice, multiple choice, rating) support audience creation.
